About the Italian Festival

In just 3 short years, Italian Week has grown and gained the support of the business and institutional community in Queensland. The Italian Consulate in Queensland suggested creating an official Italian Festival in Brisbane with its focus on celebrating the culture and artistry of Italy. A festival, in partnership with, and with the full support of the Italian Government, orientated around music, fashion, design, astronomy, engineering, art, theatre, motor vehicles, gastronomy, wines, and the full gamut of Italian ingenuity and embracing Italy’s passion for life.. La Bella Vita!

An opportunity such as this to promote Italy in the modern context and create a cultural festival which could be blended into the fabric of Queensland’s cultural landscape proved irresistible and Italian Week was born. The foundations for the development of Italian Week rest on developing long term strategic collaborations, promoting Italian Culture and lifestyle within the context of the Queensland reality. An opening and sharing of cultures, one simply needs to look at this year’s program to see fusion of Australia and Italy. It is this embracing of cultures that we celebrate.

In 2009, we were once again pleased to have the support of the Ambassador of Italy in Australia H.E. MR. Gian Ludovico DE MARTINO di MONTEGIORDANO who was in in attendance at Italian Week 2009. Opening Italian Fashion Week.

The growth of Brisbane’s Official Italian Festival is thanks to the assistance and support of the following talented and generous sponsors in our community who love Italy and the Italian spirit toward life.
